This report uses data from Universal Analytics…

I have seen this message in reports I have been receiving today and a client has mentioned it.

This report uses data from Universal Analytics. After July 1, 2024, charts with data from any UA property will return no data. If you haven't already, make the switch to Google Analytics 4.

Looker report

Looking at both the reports I have got, the common thing is that the GA4 accounts were automatically created from UA. You can check in the UA settings.

I think thats what the Looker reports are complaining about. I set up both Looker reports and the only data source is GA4. It must be that some automatically created properties take events from the old UA property and those events will stop working.

If you want to be sure that nothing will break, go to your GTM, delete any UA events and tags and see if GA4 events fire as usual. I have noticed that some events in GA4 have not been recreated totally and are pulling in from UA so they will break.

Hopefully that helps someone. Let me know in the comments if there's another explanation.

Looks like its a bug. See https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Looker-Studio/Remove-Universal-Analytics-Warning/m-p/768816#M972
