KQC for casino and gambling advertising

I got an email today from William Hill, they were asking me to update the KQCs for their casino offer. Basically, its the extra text where you have to put the main terms of the offer below any advertisement.

Bet365 call this the short terms, I guess KQC is the proper technical term for it.

So what does KQC stand for?

Key Qualifying Criteria

eg,

KQCs: 18+. Play Safe. New customers only. Max 100 free spins at 10p/spin. Spins expire 24 hours from issue. Max redeemable amount £30. Available on selected Megaways™ slots. Terms and conditions apply.

You generally have to write that below every banner that has a sign up bonus. I actually stopped advertising sign up bonuses to get round this. Its a nuisance having to go through your sites and update all the terms when they change.

Updating KQCs easily.

There are a few ways to make it easier. If you run one site, you can use a plugin called shortcoder. Its my favourite one for a single site. You can write the text in a short code and just place the shortcode with the banner. To update, just update the shortcode text.

Alternatively, if you use the newish wordpress Gutenberg editor, you can create a custom content block and put the KQCs in there. I've only just started using Gutenberg so still use the short codes method on most of my sites.

If you need to update the KQCs across multiple sites, you can do using this method. You just need to update once and it will update all the text across all your websites (assuming they are WordPress). Its great for sites like Bet365 who rarely change their sign up offer but are really strict about updating it.
